Each phrase is two to four bars in length and there are enough phrases to complete one chorus of improvisation. It is followed by another chorus in which the student creates their own jazz phrases.
This is a building block of learning steps that show the student how to build phrases based on various premises. This becomes the springboard that moves a student to the first step in performing jazz improvisation. .
