Composed by Gustav Mahler. Arranged by Randy A. Steinberg. 20th Century. Octavo. 439 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1900261. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870375).

Frequently called the "Symphony of a Thousand", this major work by Mahler is one of the largest symphony and choral works in the entire repertoire of classical music. The work was written in 1906, but not performed until 1910. Highly unconventional, this symphony only has 2 movements. The first movement is titled Veni Creator Spiritus ("Come, Creator Spirit"), the second is a setting of the words from the closing scene of Goethe's Faust. It is the first movement that utilizes mass choir and soloists in a rousing and inspiring setting. Musical historians have highlighted this work as a defining musical composition for the 20th century. It is that movement that has been arranged here for the first time for Concert Band. 2016 Arrangement New Release.
