Published by EMK Music (A0.834015).Although Joplin also aspired to be remembered as a composer of Opera, his essential legacy is that of founder of the ‘classical form of Ragtime’. This infectious ‘two-step’ feel music was one of the formative influences on Jazz, and it enjoyed a revival in the 1950’s and again in 1973 when the film The Sting featured Joplin’s music arranged by Marvin Hamlisch. The Entertainer, which was featured, remains popular to this day.
