BARBIE’S BLUES by Joe ProcopioBarbie’s Blues is an arrangement by Joe Procopio for a small ensemble or stage band. It was originally written and recorded as a song for Barbie who was the lead singer in a band once known for its eclectic style. The original song was entitled “A WOMAN’S BLUES” and can be found on the CD “ALL IN MY LIFE” by Joe Procopio with Barbie singing. This arrangement was first scored for a small ensemble at a Community College in North Carolina. The instrumentation is flexible. It can be performed with a variety of lead woodwind instruments. This makes it attractive for schools with a variable and uncertain number of music students each year. The music itself has proven to be a success with listeners, musicians, directors, students and schools alike. In addition to having a haunting melody and rhythm, the work has a section that is open for solos for featuring talented soloists.BARBIE’S BLUES instrumentation includes:SCORE and parts:FLUTECLARINETALTO SAX IALTO SAX IITENOR SAXBARITONE SAXELEC.
