Published by Sonic Crossroads (S0.6213).Necil Kazim Akses (1908-1999) was a prominent Turkish composer of Western classical music, belonging to the group known as the "Turkish Five." These ten pieces are from 1964 and seem to be in two groups: 1-5 are shorter, slightly less advanced pieces while 6-10 are longer and more virtuosic. Nos. 7 and 10 are fully developed fugues. This is an authorized reprint of the Ankara State Conservatory Publications edition. The audio excerpt provides the opening phrases of Nos. 2, 3, and 4. (51 pp.).
