An original hymn with text by Kathryn W. Hales below.

Why did Jesus have to die?
Could not his agony supply
The demands of justice sure,
For He was innocent and pure?

Why did He hang upon the tree
In place of a sinner like me?
Why was He the only one
Who could pay the ransom?

Why was death required
By a son from a Godly sire?
‘Twas the ultimate sacrifice,
An atonement, infinite in price.

Jesus, the Begotten Son of God,
Down that road willingly trod,
Divine love to us did show,
He died that Eternal Life we’d know.
