The composition Whispers was written for French horn, and was inspired by Psalm 107:29 NIV - He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.
Whispers is dedicated to Dr. Kristen Johns, who is an Associate Professor of Music at Valdosta (GA) State University. I was privileged to study with her for over a year, while I was a middle school instrumental teacher in Madison, Florida. Kristen inspired me, and I am so very grateful to her for imparting to me some of her vast knowledge of music and the French horn. I am a better teacher and musician today because of her positive influence in my life.
It is my hope that Whispers will provide horn students with a song that they will enjoy learning to play, and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used in helping to motivate and encourage their students.
