Composed by Franz Lehar. Arranged by Jonathan Prentice. Opera,Romantic Period. Score. 6 pages. Jonathan Prentice #6087973. Published by Jonathan Prentice (A0.884880).

One of the most famous melodies in Classical music, Franz Lehár's, Vilia, comes from his operetta, The Merry Widow (Die lustige Witwe). It does not form part of the narrative of the opera but is sung by the character, Hanna, who dressed in traditional Pontevedrin clothes, sings this Pontevedrin song about a "Vilia", a beautiful supernatural character who seduces a hapless hunter. It has subsequently become standard concert repertoire for both male and female singers (this English version is in F major, suitable for mezzos and baritones).

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
