Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. A Cappella,Instructional,Romantic Period. 5 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6253267. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955830).

Va, pensiero, sull'all dorate (the Chorus of Hebrew Slaves) from Verdi's opera NABUCCO is based on Psalm 137, "By the rivers of Babylon."  It stands as a choral anthem in the operatic repertoire akin to The Ode to Joy from the fourth movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, in that it has become an anthem for Italians, trying to free their country from foreign occupation. This arrangement is for 4-part SATB vocal ensemble to be performed a cappella.  It works well at as an introduction to opera, outdoor ethnic festivals and celebrations, church services, etc. The text is Italian. Performance time: 3:10+ .
