The trio for flute, violin and bass clarinet was composed the year 1953. In this year, Homs adopted the dodecaphonic system, in order to get some self control and opposite to the anxiety provoked by the all is permitted. In the exercise and the demand that this system has, the composer finds, on one hand, the coherence on the musical discourse and on the other hand, a new way to express himself. The trio is made up of three movements: Andante, Allegro scherando i Vivace. The premiere was held the 30th of December 1954 in the third program of the BBC. It was performed by Harold Clarke (fl.), Richard Temple (vl.) and Vera Kantrovitch (cl.b.).
