This gospel number really cooks! 'Til the Walls Come Down features sensible vocals, two solo spots, and rhythmic lines that really groove.
The contemporary gospel style comes from the 20th century African American religious musical expressions. The music is noted for its repetition, drive and vocal planing. The music is also rhythmic and exciting. The singers should not plan on standing still. Even on risers, at times of heightened emotions, there are arm pumping claps and touch steps to heighten the energy and drive.It's hard to find gospel works for the tenor/bass choir. The tempo of this work is up and bright. Although secular, the principles of gospel singing should apply. Add scoops in appropriate places. Get into the music. Soloists should feel led to take some liberties with their lines. You may want to sing the work, then add the reprise at the end. Adding toe steps and hand claps increases the drama of the ending.
