Composed by Zequinha de Abreu. Arranged by Randy A. Steinberg. 20th Century,Jazz. Score and parts. 117 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1921669. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870385).

Scored for 2 Bb Solo Clarinets and Concert Band, this arrangement of a popular Brazilian tune was written in 1917. The work was originally titled Tico-Tico no Fubá which means "Sparrow In The Cornmeal". The piece was later recorded in 1931 by Carmen Miranda and became quite popular in the 1940’s. It can be heard in many movie such as Copacabana, Bathing Beauty, Woody Allen’s Radio Days and even Walt Disney’s musical cartoon movie titled the Three Amigos. The lyrics of the song deal with a bothersome bird that won’t stop eating the cornmeal meant for others. Fun to play and a great showpiece for 2 clarinets, audiences will quickly recognize this tune and receive it well.
