Published by Janna Hoskin (A0.1294033).“Theme & Variations for Bass Clarinet” is an experiment in using a matrix to create the inversions, retrogrades, and retrograde inversions used for each statement within the theme. I also used a separate matrix for note values and yet another for dynamics.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the musical (and perhaps the emotional) centre of the piece, and then convey it to your audience. To this end, please consider the stated tempo as a suggestion and not a hard and fast rule to follow. If a particular section feels like it should be slower, make that adjustment; if another feels like it should be faster, make that adjustment also.
