Stevie Wonder wrote The Tears of a Clown in 1966 and gave it to Smokey Robinson as a Christmas gift. Robinson and his band, The Miracles, turned the song into a massive hit. The songs steam-organlike sounds gives it a very unique characteristic and over the years has been recorded by numerous artists. Now you can also record it with your concert band!

Stevie Wonder komponierte The Tears of a Clown und schenkte es 1966 Smokey Robinson zu Weihnachten, der daraus mit seiner damaligen Band, den Miracles, eine Riesenhit machte. Der Song mit dem charakteristischen Dampforgel-Motiv wurde danach mehrmals neu aufgenommen, u.a. von Phil Collins. Stefan Schwalgin setzte das Lied gekonnt für Fanfareorchester um.

En 1954, William “Smokey” Robinson (1940) forme le groupe vocal soul The Miracles, avec trois camarades du lycée. Quatre ans plus tard, Smokey croise la route de Berry Gordy, fondateur du label Tamla Motown, qui va vite comprendre le potentiel de cet artiste qui compose aussi bien qu’il chante. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles permettront la Motown de devenir une valeur s re dans le monde de la musique. Le groupe va survoler le haut des hit-parades durant toutes les années 60.
