Tarantella  is a south Italian folk dance of a fast upbeat tempo, usually played with Tambourines - There are different Tarantella dances with different names in different region. The Tarantella dance is also popular in Argentina. The Dance originates from the Italian province of Taranto. That name actually is named after the spider called "tarantula”. The dance may have been a therapy for spider bite victims. The tarantella is a dance in which the dancer and the drum player constantly try to upstage each other by playing faster or dancing longer than the other, subsequently tiring one person out first. In the last 100 years, the Tarantella dance was played with Accordions. Today, Tarantella Accordion music is considered Italian folk music.
