In the spring of 2016, I programed a concert of all Spanish and Mexican music.
Unfortunately, some of the titles I ordered did not arrive on time and I had to come up
with something in their place. I scoured the internet for a public domain pieces to no
avail. The next morning, I woke up with the following tune in my head and within an
hour had written it out completely. Spanish Airs was born of necessity, but it has
remained a favorite piece with my students and one that has caused them to
constantly burst into impromptu performance.
