Published by Janus Editions (A0.1150279).This Sonata for Viola & String Orchestra offers approachable virtuosity for the soloist, as well as appropriately scaled difficulty for the orchestra. Georg Philipp Telemann loved the viola, but sadly we have only two of his concerti for the instrument. Overall, there is very little solo material from the Baroque epoch written for viola. This Sonata was originally for viol de gamba and keyboard, TWV 41:a6. It is much transcribed for viola and keyboard, but previous to this, not for viola and string orchestra.
