It is the only Level 42 song to have been a top 10 hit in the United States, where it reached no. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it was their second highest top 10 hit in the UK, reaching no. 6 on the UK Singles Chart (with "Lessons in Love" peaking at no. 3 the following year). In the music video, lead singer and bassist, Mark King, appears as a dark clown magician, representing the negative aspects in the relationships of other band members with their girlfriends, all played by actress Cherie Lunghi.
