Edvard Grieg based many compositions on an extensive collection of folk tunes compiled by the Norwegian composer and organist Ludvig Lindeman. This charming little set features six of them: three lively dances and three contasting songs, each from a different region of Norway as indicated under the titles. The three dances are full of rhythmic energy, whereas the songs are more lyrical and expressive. Gorgeous little pieces for a mixed abilitiy group, with plenty to challenge the higher grades and the optional Flute 5 part easy enough for a Grade 1-2 player.
