Sinfonia in B-flat Minor, Op. 153 was composed in 1872 for the Cremona Civic Band, directed by Amilcare Ponchielli himself. He composed more than seventy original works and transcriptions for the ensemble. With a slow and stately start that builds dramatically and dynamically and thematically contrasting themes, this orchestration for symphonic band by Luca Valenti would serve as an exciting concert opener.
