Composed by Joseph Brackett. Arranged by c.e. walz. Folk,Graduation,Holiday,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. C.E. Walz #3585683. Published by C.E. Walz (A0.767649).

Grandma says that every time she hears this tune, she wants to stand up and dance a jig! Likely the most popular of Shaker tunes, "Simple Gifts" remains a favorite in schools, folk concerts, and houses of worship. This tune gained popularity when it was included in Aaron Copland's score for the ballet Appalachian Spring. The melody has a decidedly traditional Celtic sound, but it was written by Elder Joseph Brackett of Maine in 1848. This intermediate arrangement is in the key of G and begins with 12/8 time counted in 4. The last page moves to a more regal and slower 4/4 meter then returns to echo the beginning 12/8 time to close. 4 pages and 2:10 minutes long
