A most enjoyable and fresh choice for solo contest, festival, or recital. Beginning with a playful allegretto with an almost oriental sound, the melody reflects the shadow of a young person dancing. The next section is beautiful melody in a lyrical and expressive style. A very quick flourish then follows featuring a technical interplay between the oboe and the piano. The composition then concludes with a restatement of the original playful melody.
This was composed in 1991. This new 2023 edition includes more detailed dynamic markings and a revised ending.
