The interest of this Salve Regina in double choir by T. L. de VITTORIA is first of all to be without any particular learning difficulty, as often the works of this composer.
The voices are singing and their different tessitura allow a balanced division of a traditional choir: 3 S, 2 A, 1 T, 2 B in the case of a strictly choral double choir.
The organisation of its 7 rather short parts allows other combinations favourable to less furnished ensembles. Indeed, choir 1 performs alone 3 times, the second alone twice. Only numbers 5 and 7 are actually 8 voices. A great opportunity for two different choirs to build a common work, most of which can be worked on separately, with the discovery or the assembly of the 2 tutti in one or more common rehearsals.
As is often the case, Choir 2 (SATB) can also be reserved for a choral ensemble and soloists or a "coro favorito" for Choir 1 (SSAB).
In order to escape the traditional "choir and brass instruments" because the interiority of this Salve Regina does not lend itself to it, the instrumental timbres often used in Spanish cathedrals will be used. Choir 1 will be limited to a single vocal part with the other voices performed by oboe and bassoon or viols, doubled or replaced by harps, while choir 2 will remain a capella or better accompanied "colla parte" by a keyboard.
