Saint Saens wrote his Op 40 Danse Macabre in 1874. This shortened version can be played by the Solo violin with a Flute and Piano accompaniment. A full score is included plus a piano only part if preferred by the piano player. This piano part includes flute cues making it possible to play the piece with only violin & piano. The bonus is parts are included for a cello and a clarinet which can altogether replace the piano part making for a lovely quartet of Violin, Flute, Clarinet and Cello. This arrangement takes the best known parts of the longer traditional public domain piece.
