A typical concerto finale with the entrance of the solo instrument right at the beginning: this is how Mozart designed the present Rondo K. 373 which he wrote for a subscription concert held in conjunction with the violinist Antonio Brunetti in Vienna. The piece was most likely self-contained, for nowhere do we find indications referring to a "C major Violin Concerto" from Mozart's pen, and the composer mentions precisely this very "Rondeau" in a letter to his father concerning the first performance on 8 April 1781.
