The body of the work is expressive and lyrical, and should be approached with musical sensitivity. The piece concludes with a sudden change of thematic material, becoming resolute and declarative. The players must make sure that this sudden development is conveyed decisively, and that the ending is powerful and majestic.
This piece is not technically demanding, but the tuba and violin parts cover wide ranges on their respective instruments, and as such advanced level is recommended.
