Set for 3 octaves, this medium-to-difficult arrangement of the traditional spiritual begins with a quote from the familiar Christmas carol, "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night." The spiritual follows in a predictably rhythmic manner and with abundant use of mallets. As the spiritual concludes, the tempo slows and the volume decrescendos as the shepherds leave the scene.
