Piano Solo - Digital Download

SKU: A0.818510

Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Thomas Ling Swee Chin (of Sibu). 20th Century,Concert. Score. 7 pages. Thomas Swee Chin #6254065. Published by Thomas Swee Chin (A0.818510).

This is a beautiful piece that all pianists should learn, as it is very doable, considering the quality of the music, which is more musically rather than technically challenging. The left hand accompaniment seems to consist of two triple time in a bar while the time signature is actually triple (per bar), creating an interesting aural experience when the melody is played against the meter. The simple but subtle melodic line is harmonised with slight dissonances unique to Ravel. The tension caused by the unusual rhythm and the dissonances makes it a beautiful and exotic piece. .
