Published by Samuel Hunter (A0.877672).Psalm 145 is a new motet for Soprano, Bass, Cello, and piano, with a lovely chorale (for SATB chorus or quartet) as the final movement. The text is significant in that it is the only biblical psalm to bear the inscription, "a psalm of praise." Comprised of six movements, the work draws on traditional conventions of dramatic music from the 17th and 18th centuries, with brief but smooth forays into modern idioms with the stunning pentatonic stillness of the third movement and the sensitive and colorful harmony of the sixth. The work stands as a whole, yet each movement may be performed independently as well. Psalm 145 is suitable for a worship service or as a concert work.
