The song draws insipiration from two sources. First my dog who day and night begs to go outside to play; the melody came to me while singing to myself about how he wished to play all day, no matter the time or weather. Second, given how similar, "play all day," was to, "pray all day," I was reminded of Paul's final instructions in first Thessalonians, where he tells us to rejoice and pray continuously. I realized then that this would be a perfect message for the upbeat melody, and endeavoured to turn my idle singing into a church anthem.
