Composed by P. F. Strohm. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical,Contest,Festival. Score and part. 16 pages. Pete Strohm Music #1004017. Published by Pete Strohm Music (A0.1422667).

Impromptu No. 6 for Trombone and Piano is the sixth in a set of one-movement works for trombone and piano from American composer P. F. Strohm, written at the request of  trombonist Matthew Driscoll. Unlike the first five impromptus, this is a Medium level of difficulty student solo work that demands tone, technique and musicality. Its passages highlight numerous skills essential for a developing student trombonist, such as a variety of articulations, sustained crescendos and decrescendos, sudden dynamic changes, shifting tonal centers using accidentals, and so on. These are all in the context of a dramatic opening, assertive main theme, flowing counterthemes, and a bravado ending. It is an outstanding student work for contest, concert or recital.  Performance time is 5:15.  Member, ASCAP.
