Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Michael Bomier. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 7 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #3686633. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862679).

This amazing and moving piece was Sergei's favorite prelude of his own design. He had a discussion with pianist Benno Moisewitch wherein he described it as having the explicit meaning of his longing to return to Russia. He was an exile.
Thus the music has power, regret, desire, and loneliness contained in its chords, cadenzas, and figures. Our setting uses ALL of SR's original notes, but makes his deliberately obscure rhythms and the final cadenza much clearer to see and interpret. Many ties that are held by the pedaling have also been removed. MBB.
