Published by Christopher Evans (A0.846388).Prelude, Fugue and Variation’ consists of a prelude in the form of an aria style melody for a soft solo stop accompanied by soft 8 & 4 flute stops followed by a dynamic flourish of running quavers, which introduce the fugue, which ends with a return to the flourish, this time in semiquavers leading to the last movement, a return to the theme of the prelude in the form of a variation. Although the suggested registration is for three manuals, all movements can be very effectively played on two manuals.
