Composed by Thomas A. Dorsey (1899-1993). Arranged by W. David Hedrick. Folk,Gospel,Jazz. Score and parts. 11 pages. William David Hedrick #2026515. Published by William David Hedrick (A0.881496).

The old gospel song "Precious Mem'ries" was written by the black gospel musician Thomas A. Dorsey and considered by some as the "father of black gospel music." This arrangement is for either flute or alto flute with piano. Originally it was intended for the rich sound of the alto flute with the piano in a light swing style but the C Flute part is also included. It does require some skill for the interpolated scales and arpeggios but could possibly be left out or edited. It is a very lyrical piece and maintains the swing jazz style throughout the arrangement with one key change. It is suitable for most concert venues or religious services and could be used in solo contests and festivals. The audio clip is a computer rendering in Finale.
