Howard (A0.1401788).This catchy solo voice or unison voices version of the original three-part anthem with accompaniment, sets a text by Revd Canon Dr Gordon Giles, and was composed for the 2022 RSCM Harold Smart Anthem Competition. The work plays with alternating A minor and A major tonalities, with three verses exploring forms of textural variation. The imitative recurring chorus is also varied on each return. The coda gradually builds in dynamics, texture and pitch, in setting repetitions of the word 'Amen', leading to the final A minor climax. This anthem is also available in versions for three-part choir and for SA choir, both with accompaniment, as well as a piano solo version titled 'Lauda', all from SMP.
