By Willie Nelson. By Charles Brown and Gene Redd. Arranged by David Holt. Contemporary. Brass Band. 41 pages. David Holt #6115533. Published by David Holt (A0.985300).

"Please Come Home For Christmas" was written and first released in 1960 by the American blues singer and pianist Charles Brown. It has since been covered by a number of artists, most notably The Eagles in 1978 and Jon Bon Jovi in 1992. A charity re-release of the Bon Jovi recording reached the UK top 10 in 1994.
The first half of this arrangement is played by seven unaccompanied musicians in a group intended to mimic the style of the comedic Mnozil Brass ensemble. This was heavily inspired by The Leyland Band's performance of "Blue" at Brass in Concert 2014, which was transcribed for brass band by John Doyle. The feature group comprises three trumpet players, three trombonists and one bass (parts for both Eb and Bb bass are provided). The seven featured players should stand in a line across the front of the stage as shown in the plan provided.
This piece can be introduced as a septet, and the seated band members remain still for the first two minutes, so that the rousing final section is a surprise to the audience. If desired the audience can be encouraged to clap along on beats 2 & 4 from rehearsal mark D.
Trombone parts in alternate clefs are provided.
