Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939792).This avant-garde piece of some 5 minutes duration is the composer's brief foray into the post-Webern avant-garde of Stockhausen, Boulez et al. It was given its premiere in July 1967 at the Marlboro Festival of Music, the composer at the piano (the recording of which is this audio clip). His Piano Piece no. 2 (also for sale at SMP Press) is the composer's second and last avant-garde piece which develops the ideas further from Piano Piece no. 1.
