I wanted to capture the spirit and beauty of Oklahoma as well as a bit of the personality of Peter who is a native son of Oklahoma. I heard many stories of his humor and also wanted to capture this as part of the piece. I wanted to write a truly “Americana” piece. You will hear wide-open sounds as well as earthy violin fiddle stylings. This is not only a tribute to Oklahoma but to Peter and the band he plays in called Horseshoe Road. Every instrument is active in this work and made to feel a part. This is an advanced work for symphonic orchestra that demands a high level from every player. The listener will feel the beauty of the wide-open spaces on this tour through the zenith of the Oklahoma Skies!
