Composed by Susan Conant. Contemporary. Score and parts. 26 pages. Susan Conant #2009419. Published by Susan Conant (A0.797070).

Challenging, fun and an audience favorite, this is the second movement of Conant's Lowcountry Suite which was inspired by the watery landscapes of the Carolina Lowcountry. Ocean Fantasia was influenced by the grand scale and wildness of the ocean as it intersects with the region's barrier island beaches. Repeated sextuplets reminiscent of Ravel and Debussy recall the perpetual movement of wind and water and the call of the gulls. But it is the landscape's awesome grandeur that drives the lush chords and soaring melody of the climatic passage. Conant writes music that blends classical, jazz and Celtic music in an accessible, fun to play format. Great for recitals, concerts and church services.
