Composed by Elizabeth J. Atkinson. Parish/Cathedral. Choral, Lent. Octavo. Paraclete Press #0112. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.0112).

Elizabeth J. Atkinson provides music of graceful lyricism for the text by the sixteenth-century poet John Redford. The piece has the flavor of English Renaissance composers such as Thomas Morley, yet in Ms. Atkinson's more modern style. The piece is set as two verses with a lovely coda repeating the brief Latin text. The solemn nature of the text is reflected in the simplicity of the writing as well as the minor key that is used.
