Non è sicuro a quale mottetto facesse riferimento Andreas Crappius, essendo in realtà lui uno dei primi a citarlo (anche se non a metterlo in musica in testo tedesco), fatto sta che tra gli anni '60 del '500 e i due secoli successivi, fino a Johannes Brahms, furono diversi i compositori che vi si cimentarono in area germanica: Gregor Lange, Andreas Hammerschmidt, Heinrich Schuets, Johann Georg Wiener... Andrea Crappius fu compositore di musica sacra, direttore e pedagogo prevalentemente nella zona di Hannover per quasi 50 anni a cavallo tra '500 e '600.
