The composer, Earl C. Thornton, was  Major in the Army during WWI. He was also a Methodist Minister. He composed Memories in 1914, most likely, just before deploying to Europe. His music was passed down from his granddaughter Joan Powell Jackson, to her daughter Susan Jackson Galentine who owns all copyrights and transcribed it from Thorntons written hand. The youtube link contains a performance of this piece by Dr. Mark Camann at The Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 1630 Goliad Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78223, recorded on September 3, 2022.
