His arrangement evokes images of a deeply dark sky as the backdrop for a myriad of gleaming stars--the setting for the angels' announcement to the shepherds of "Peace on earth, goodwill toward men, from Heaven's all-gracious King." This arrangement is especially suited for Christmas Eve services, especially those held late at night.
