This collection of attractive and easy viola solos consists of pieces for students at absolute beginner level to those at an early elementary stage. The first three pieces use open strings only and the others make use of 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers.It’s intended as supplementary material to your usual teaching materials. There’s plenty of contrasting music for a beginner student recital or an end-of-semester concert. Your viola students are sure to find these pieces enjoyable and challenging. The first three use long notes on open strings, with simple bowing and limited dynamic markings.
Every piece has a short keyboard introduction so that the student can sense the tempo and musical style before playing. The accompaniments have been kept as simple as possible. Several pieces have a few measures rest in the middle to give the player a break and add musical contrast and also to give experience of counting empty bars.
The album consists of piano-viola score and a separate viola solo part both contained in a single PDF file.
