Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.921648

Composed by Text: Christina Rosetti, Music: Gustav Holst. Arranged by Tom Dwight. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 4 pages. Tom Dwight #3675793. Published by Tom Dwight (A0.921648).

In the Bleak Midwinter is a beautiful poem by Christina Rosetti and was later set to music by Gustav Holst. In this arrangement, I hope to capture not only the beauty of the words and melody but also the starkness and chill of its setting.

It is written for SATB with a descant on verse 4. There are also two optional C instrument parts. I suggest that the instruments refrain from playing throughout - possibly playing together for the intro and again on verse 4. The rest of the piece they might rotate in and out.

Similarly, with the choir, consider making at least one of the verses unison. Use your discretion.
