By Dr. Sheri L. Masiakowski. By Sr. Presentia Steffen OSF. Arranged by Dr. Sheri L. Masiakowski. 20th Century,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. School Sisters of St. Francis #920199. Published by School Sisters of St. Francis (A0.1333939).

Sr. Presentia Steffen OSF (1916-2000), colleague of Sr. Theophane Hytrek OSF, composed this simple organ piece on the Midnight Mass Gregorian Chant Communion antiphon. Its text is: "In splendoribus sanctorum, ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te"; in English, “Amidst the splendours of the heavenly sanctuary, from the womb, before the morning star, I have begotten you.” The manuscript is not dated but was likely created before 1950.  Sr. Presentia succeeded Sr. Theophane Hytrek OSF as St. Joseph Convent Chapel organist from 1953 until she suffered a stroke which paralyzed her left side in 1964.  Further information is available from Heritage Music Series editor -- Dr. Sheri L. Masiakowski  smasiakowski@sssf.org .
