Composed by John Rox. Arranged by Matteo Dal Toso. Advent,Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Pop. 8 pages. Matteo Dal Toso #933012. Published by Matteo Dal Toso (A0.1348195).Enjoy this famous tune with your bassoon quartet!
I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas is a lovely Christmas song composed by John Rox back in 1953 featuring many bassoon cues in the music, starting right from the beginning throughout the whole piece. For this reason, no arrangement could fit better other than this one for four bassoons!
The tone of this arrangement is G major, the same tuning as the original song. Although the 1st bassoon lies in a rather high register, the parts are written by keeping track of the instrument charachteristics and capabilities, resulting in a smooth writing style very pleasurable to the players.
A great encore for Christmas events, recitals, concerts or just to have a good time with your fellow bassoon friends.
Have fun!
