A one-year-old—who turned out to be the writer Eudora Welty—was carried, fast asleep, to the window to witness the event. From this seed, Mary Chapin Carpenter has grown this beautiful song, presented here for the first time in a choral (SATB) arrangement, with piano and “down home” fiddle.
