From the haunting opening strains of What Wondrous Love Is This? to the tender, moving rendition of Jesus, Keep Me Near The Cross, this work for Holy Week skillfully weaves simple narration, scripture, and hymn texts and tunes into a powerful presentation of the Savior's suffering. Familiar hymns and new material are designed to impress upon the congregation and choir alike the magnitude of the sacrifice our Lord endured for our salvation. The closing anthem is a triumphant testimony to the victory of Easter, and may be used separately as an Easter anthem, allowing the rest of the work to stand complete as a service for Good Friday.
