Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1109144).I have shamelessly combined ideas from three famous pieces poular for funerals: Pachelbel's Canon, Elgar's Nimrod from the Enigma Variations and Chopin's Marche Funebre from his 2nd Pianoforte Sonata. So it is a passacaglia, having a solemn repeating 4 bars in the bass; 8 variations on a 4 bar phrase; and an accompanied canon having each variation repeated twice, in the second violin and viola after delays, while a new variation appears in the 1st Violin. All in D minor, but a tierce de Picardie ends the piece. Only 3 minutes: after all that work!
